Leather Fishing Rod Tubes

from £175.00

If you’d like to transform a battered old cover that houses a really special rod, I can craft a leather fishing rod tube around the original cylinder or, if you’d like a bespoke product, I can build from scratch using a plastic or aluminium inner. Everything is hand-stitched and the lid and base are lined with lambskin fleece to cushion the rods as they travel.

The smaller, smuggler-type case shown is 45cm tall, with a 6cm internal diameter and I have worked up to 130cm long with a diameter of 10cm. Most rods can be housed in a tube up to 8cm internal diameter and the prices quoted below are for up to and including 8cm. For diameters in excess of 8cm, for example if you wish to house more than one rod, please get in touch via the Contact Form and I can quote you a price for that.

Please feel free to experiment with different leather/thread combos. If you’d like to handle some of the leathers I work with, please drop me a note using the Form on the Contact page and I’ll send you samples.

All I need is your original tube or, if making from scratch, your broken down rod dimensions, plus your choice of colour for the leather (chestnut brown, black or green, in either hard or soft ‘tumbled’ leather) and stitching (brown, black, green, yellow or red).

The cost varies, depending on the length of the broken down rods:

Up to 50cm: £175.00

50cm to 100cm: £225.00

100cm to 125cm: £275.00

I can emboss the cap and body of the tube with your initials. Please let me know which you’d prefer.

Please use the contact form to start a conversation about dimensions.

Lead time 2 weeks.

If you would like to personalise the item for a further £10.00, a box for the letters will appear at Checkout. If you’d like to add more than 6 letters, please call me or email me using the Contact Form.

A note to non-UK Customers: I regularly work with clients in The Americas, the EU and Australasia. Due to my limited tech skills, my website is currently set up to process orders from the UK only, but please don’t be deterred and reach out via the Contact Form and we can progress from there.
